For its client Alpitour, the creative studio Monogrid turned the ORA sphere into a globe to explore: touch a country, and the screen beside it comes alive with the destination’s photos and videos. More than 280 destinations, managed by Alpitour on its own through a back office. |
Monogrid is an Italian creative studio founded in 2016, based in Florence, that designs high-end interactive installations for luxury brands and major institutions. On this project, it imagined the whole physical side, the furniture, the space and the environment around the sphere, for its client Alpitour, one of the largest Italian travel groups.
An Alpitour space, as a permanent installation, in front of the travel group’s visitors.
To let visitors explore destinations by spinning an interactive sphere, and to let Alpitour’s teams manage each destination themselves. The brief went further than a single screen: Alpitour didn’t want to depend on anyone to keep the content alive.
Visitors spin the ORA sphere like a globe. They touch a country, and the screen beside it comes alive with the destination’s photos and videos. Behind that simple gesture, software synchronises the sphere and the secondary screen. Everything fits into the installation designed by Monogrid: the furniture, the set design, the environment that makes the sphere the heart of the room.

The two screens act as one: pick a destination on the sphere, and it appears instantly on the screen beside it. More than 280 destinations were added to the map. And above all, a back office that Alpitour runs from its intranet: the teams add, remove or refresh a destination without touching a line of code. The installation doesn’t freeze in time, it evolves with the offering.

The project brought together Monogrid’s design and set design, and ORA’s sphere and bespoke software.
