About the Nancy-Metz education authority

The Nancy-Metz education authority is the regional arm of the French Ministry of National Education, headquartered in Nancy. Part of the Grand Est regional education area, it covers Meurthe-et-Moselle, the Meuse, the Moselle and the Vosges, and oversees state and private schooling across its territory: implementing national policies, exams, student guidance and supporting teaching teams.

The project

The setting

The authority’s digital labs, as a permanent installation, with a deployment of four spheres.

The purpose

To move beyond traditional materials in its 13 digital labs, towards interactive, curriculum-aligned lessons the whole class takes part in. The requirement was twofold: capture students’ attention, and give teachers a genuinely better way to explain difficult concepts, not just a screen, but a teaching tool.

What was shown & the experience

A touch surface several students use at once, 360° visuals and curriculum-aligned content, in history, geography and science, through quizzes, animations and guided explorations. The rollout came with training and bespoke content, so each lab could make the most of the sphere.

The benefit

Four spheres deployed, livelier lessons, and students who grasp difficult concepts more easily. For the authority, the project sets a benchmark: a concrete example of immersive educational technology that others in the education system can look to.
