About the Nancy-Metz education authority

The Nancy-Metz academy is the regional arm of the French Ministry of Education, headquartered in Nancy. Part of the Grand Est academic region, it covers Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle and the Vosges, and oversees public and private education across its territory: implementing national policy, exams, student guidance and support for teaching teams.

The project

The location

Collège Guy-Dolmaire in Mirecourt and the academy’s digital labs, as a permanent installation. Four spheres have been deployed across the Grand Est and rotate through classrooms in around fifteen schools.

Purpose

Move beyond traditional teaching aids in its 13 digital labs, towards interactive, curriculum-aligned lessons in which the whole class takes part. The goal was twofold: to capture students’ attention, and to give teachers a genuinely better way to explain difficult concepts, not just a screen, but a teaching tool.

What was displayed & the experience

A touch surface several students use at once, 360° visuals and curriculum-aligned content. Among them: the sphere of time (from Antiquity to the present day), the animated solar system, cartography and the history of maps, the study of the Earth and oceans (volcanoes, earthquakes, continental drift, ocean currents) and the evolution of the climate. The rollout came with training and bespoke content, so that each lab gets the most out of the sphere.

The benefit

Four spheres deployed, livelier lessons, and students who grasp difficult concepts more easily. For the academy, the project sets a benchmark: a concrete example of immersive educational technology that other players in the education system can look to.
